Un álbum lleno de ruido armónico, si es que eso se puede decir. Habla de temas poco desarrollados dentro de la música pop, entre ellos la caca, la orina, erecciones, también de orgasmos, de los poros, uñas, etc.
Este disco se compone combinación de crudeza y delicadeza, natural y siempre presente en nuestras vidas, pero que muchas veces queda fuera de la música pop.

Artísta parte folk, parte soul y funk.
Podría ser el tipo de música (de la buena) que nuestros padres escuchaban en su juventud. Varias influencias son evidentes, como James Brown, Simon & Garfunkle, Bon Iver, Jethro Tull etc.

Uno de mis favoritos de este año fue el disco de Tom Waits, Bad as Me.
Sigue la línea que ha llevado Tom Waits a lo largo de su carrera. La cual describiría como un viaje por la música negra folk de Estados Unidos, más la locura y rudeza de Tom Waits.
Bad as Me es un disco bastante fácil de escuchar y con un buen balance entre baladas lentas como para bailar de "cachetito", y otras para un twist en coca.
Hay mucho que decir sobre este disco, sin embargo hasta aqui llega esta reseña.

Brian Eno sacó Drums Between The Bells
Un disco doble muy interesante, uno con letras del poeta Rick Holland y la otra versión sin letras. Creo que este disco puede ser una buena introducción a la obra de Eno. Cuenta con gran variedad. Algunas canciones suenan a la vida en la ciudad, y refleja el tiempo que Eno pasó en Sao Pablo. Otras canciones son ambientales. Pienso que este disco muestra la dualidad entre la vida interior y la exterior.
Creo que podría ser el soundtrack de una película de ciencia ficción.

Pj Harvey publicó uno de los mejores discos dentro de su género. Let England Shake es un disco fuertemente británico. Habla de la guerra en Iraq, el fin del imperio británico y la añoranza de la población británica (insostenible y fuera de tiempo). Let England Shake, the good all days are over, it´s time to move on. Tiene sampleos de música del medio oriente que contrastan con la música de Pj Harvey.

Creo que al hablar de música ambiental se habla mas que de un género musical, de un humor musical. Puedes encontrar obras ambientales en varios géneros musicales. Para mí este humor se caracteriza por emanar una especie de neblina, que desmaterializa todo lo que rodea, a veces en forma violenta y abrupta como un huracán, a veces delicadamente, como la marea lima la piedra.

Se dice que el término Ambient Music fue por primera ves utilizado para describir la musica de Brian Eno en Music for air ports.

While thinking with the eyes shut, he feels the cab stopping, then pays and thanks the cab driver.

There is a grey, non-Victorian, building. He enters. There is no body else in the cold lobby, but the guard and himself. The paper where visitors immortalise their presence reminds him of the daily reports from second floor. Steps fade in from a door on the back. The lack of light in the room hides Mr.Wealth until he is in front of him.

-”You must be Mr. Fliswick” they do not shake their hands, “follow me please”.

He follows Mr.Wealth to the back room. Inside there is a green couch where people wait for their turn. Floor and celling are covered with white mosaics, which reminds him of the toilets high school.

He steps out of the rain and walks quickly out to the exit of the station. Blue suit, white shirt, middle age man, under 50. On his way out he reads the adds on the walls, he recognizes 2 of them, one is showing a country on the middle east, it´s dusty and dark.
Out of the station it´s raining. He finds there is a man selling umbrellas, most of the buyers are tourists, probably from the U.S. There is another man selling imitation bags. Soon a policeman is noticed by the vendors, who now get on the move.
The middle man calls a cab and tells the driver to get to Bitler road. Inside of the cab the driver is a 60 year old man from the north of England, probably Darlington. He tries to talk with the passenger, without much success.
On the head our subject statistics and tendencies of last couple of days at work seems to diffuse the fact that now he is alone. No matter where he goes, he knows that he lost something unreplaceable.

Sometimes I think about the past,

It is true what they say about walking on the street surrounded by people you saw sometime and not realizing it. Like when you are dreaming everybody you see you have seen it while awake.

And, who knows, maybe it’s also true what I heard one day on the bus, while I was on my way to the job (The same day a stranger gave me the wallet I had lost a couple years ago). I heard that every person you see while dreaming are projections of your unconscious. Which made me think, isn’t that as well while awake? I have the doubt if I ever truly met another, or I only met what I thought was the other.

The Take es un documental que muestra la historia de Forja Sn. Martín, una fábrica de autopartes en Argentina.
Después de la crisis del 2002, Zenón es cerrada por estar en bancarrota. En el tiempo de su cierre esta debe una gran cantidad de dinero a sus trabajadores, de los cuales la gran mayoría no encuentra trabajo después del cierre.
Los obreros toman la fábrica, con el objetivo de reabrirla y manejarla ellos mismos; Sin la presencia del dueño y los directores. Los trabajadores alegan que si el dueño no es capaz de pagarles lo que les debe, les pague con la fábrica. Así que presentan el plan de expropiación ante el gobierno. Buscando así la creación de una cooperativa en la que todos los trabajadores ganan lo mismo.
En el ínter hay elecciones presidenciales en Argentina, los candidatos más fuertes son Carlos Menem y Nestor Kirchner. Menem fue presidente en la época de la crisis, y es conocido por ser muy corrupto. Este también es amigo del dueño de la Forja Sn. Martín. Kirchner es conocido como el candidato liberal, de izquierda, cuyas propuestas son en apoyo de los trabajadores.
El Documental propone una alternativa al manejo actual de las fábricas y en general al proceso de globalización que vivimos.

El Son Jarocho es un modo de expresión, practicada principalmente en la fiesta jarocha Fandango, que se compone por música, poesía cantada y baile. El Son Jarocho nació en el siglo XVIII en el estado de Veracruz. Al llegar los españoles introducen varios instrumentos musicales. Estos son usados de forma distinta a la europea, y con el tiempo sufren modificaciones. Por ejemplo el Son Jarocho toma la guitarra, de antigüismo origen y la modifica creando la Jarana, columna vertebral del son, el requinto y la leona, gran guitarra utilizada en el bajeo. El Arpa también es modificada para su uso de pie.

Los africanos, traídos por los españoles, aportan el ritmo sincopado, el uso de
jitanjáforas, onomatopeyas. En el rasgueo de la jarana y el baile zapateado se recuerda inmediatamente a la música flamenca, de origen árabe y española. Los versos en forma de Copla (4 versos) tienen sus orígenes en el romance Español. La repetición de versos y la improvisación de estos, me recuerdan al Blues, a su vez de origen afro-árabe y americano. La armonía se compone en su mayoría de sextas y novenas. Así se teje el característico Son Jarocho.

Hasta 1930 que el Son Jarocho empieza a ganar popularidad en la republica mexicana, con la migración de músicos veracruzanos a las grandes urbes. En el Distrito Federal los músicos jarochos empiezan a tocar en restaurantes, cantinas y tiempo más tarde en películas. El aumento de popularidad del son hace que la duración del fandango, a veces de 30 minutos, es reducido a no más de 3 minutos. Es en una película que el harpa, usualmente tocada sentado, es modificada para ser tocada de pie para que sea mas vistoso. El son sufre modificaciones al encontrase con música originaria de Guadalajara y de la sierra Huasteca. Se puede observar en la inclusión del grito charro en alguna de las piezas.

A mediados de la década de los años 40 el son obtiene gran fama. Miguel Alemán como candidato presidencial toma “la bamba” como tema musical de campaña. Se dice que durante su sexenio este fue el segundo himno nacional de México.
El son jarocho no tuvo gran evolución debido a la creación de un estereotipo bastante fuerte. Además el público siguió pidiendo las mismas canciones a través de los años. Hoy es un género característico mexicano, que se encuentra en desarrollo y en reproducción.

Michel Landy describes the piece as a "monument to creative failure". Contribution to the bin is open to anyone who wants to get rid of an failed art creation. British artist Damin Hirst and Gary Hume have already disposed one of their pieces into the bin.

Seeing the inside of the art bin made me think about the judgment that implies succes or failure in a art. What defines failure in art? When is one piece finished? In which point does an object becomes art?

Landy will be personally at the South London Gallery choosing what goes in the bin and what is rejected.

We will see if the art bin can turn failure into succes.

Lewis Floyd Henry is a street musician that it's seen most of the times on the entrance of Tottenham court road station. As you can see he plays the guitar, a bass drum, a snare drum, a hi hat and sings, all at the same time.
